The year was 2006. The Dallas Mavericks were poised to make their first-ever NBA Finals run, and Lazër recorded the song "M-F-F-L" which was voted fans' favorite among 19 tracks submitted to a local radio contest. The song was then power-voted out of the running by controversial Mavs owner Mark Cuban and a host of "celebrity" judges who feared Lazër's unbridled danger and sexy (partial male nudity). The victory which rightfully belonged to The Sons of Rhineland was instead snatched away and awarded to Dallas rap trio PPT for their song "Rowdy, Loud & Proud" as heard in the initial segment featured here. What followed was a veritable bloodbath of violent hip hop beef, a cease-fire being declared only after Lazër released arguably the most scathing diss track of all time, "Monkey Bizness". PPT broke up shortly thereafter and the Mavericks melted down in the Finals, likely due to their owner's error in judgment with regard to choosing their theme song. Now, for the first time since that fateful turn of events, enjoy the complete saga that made the entire world question if anything was even real anymore, presented here in all its continuous glory via the miracle of digital audio editing software.
